OVERVIEW

  • Electro-assisted alkaline hydrolysis of PET (polyethylene terephthalate)  depolymerizes PET into terephthalic acid and formic acid under mild conditions with hydrogen evolution

  • Electrochemical treatment of LDPE (low-density polyethylene) introduces oxygen functional groups that increase surface reactivity and cause chain scission, enabling LDPE conversion to valuable chemicals
