SHORT BIO
Sergio holds two bachelor’s degrees: one in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Carabobo, Venezuela, and another in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad José Antonio Paez, Venezuela. Motivated by a lifelong passion for research, science, and technology, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University.
He joined the CETI lab in Spring 2025 where his research focuses on electrochemical sensing and degradation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) using advanced electrode materials for water remediation.
Alongside his research, Sergio is actively engaged in scientific leadership and service, serving in leadership roles within The Electrochemical Society at Texas Tech University, the CASFER Student Leadership Council, and LatinXinChE, where he contributes to outreach, mentorship, and community-building initiatives.
His long-term goal is to pursue a career in academia and become a world-leading researcher in electrochemical engineering, driven by a deep passion for scientific discovery and innovation.
