Postdoc

SHORT BIO

Andrés is a chemical engineer specializing in electrochemical engineering and materials development with a research career built across three continents: South America, Oceania, and Europe. After earning his PhD at Auckland University of Technology, he completed a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, where he worked developing electrochemical reactors and membrane-based systems for environmental remediation.

Beyond the lab, Andrés has experience translating research into practice, having co-founded a startup and contributed to EU-funded projects. His path has taken him from Ecuador to graduate studies and professional experience abroad and, as of August 2026, to new research opportunities at Texas Tech University, where his work includes electrochemical sensors, process intensification, and nitrogen recovery optimization. His work includes electrochemical sensors, process intensification, and optimizing nitrogen recovery.

Looking ahead, Andrés is driven to become a leading scientist who turns innovative ideas into practical solutions for the world's most pressing challenges. He believes the greatest impact happens when academic research meets the urgency and scale of industry, and he is committed to building that bridge: translating discoveries in the lab into technologies that create measurable change.
